Want to reduce the amount of waste that goes into your landfill?  Check out Freecycle.org.  This grassroots network spans across the globe with over 1.3 million members in 50 countries.  The way it works is that you post your gently used items on your local freecycle.org site.  Other members can then browse the site, then contact you about a particular wanted item.  Anything from fitness items, to household goods to electronics can be found on these sites and the best part about it is that everything posted is free.

Sign up at your local Freecycle site and check out all the stuff up for grabs, or post something you'd like to give away. Besides a few easy to follow instructions, the only other requirement is that it is all free, and that includes membership.

Remember the old adage:  One man's trash is another man's treasure?  By participating in Freecycle, we can offer the opportunity to give away things we don't want anymore and give them a second life with someone who does, and reduce the amount of waste going into our dumps each year.
